Portland’s food scene just got a major boost with the grand opening of 99 Ranch Market’s first store in the city, located at 10544 SE Washington Street in the Plaza 205 shopping center. The beloved Asian supermarket chain, founded in 1984 by Taiwanese immigrant Roger Chen, celebrated its Portland debut on August 16th with a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony, lion dance performances, and a bluefin tuna cutting show. This marks the brand’s second Oregon location, following its Beaverton store which opened in 2017.
Spanning 35,000 square feet, the new store offers over 12,000 products, including fresh produce, premium meats, live seafood, frozen goods, and hard-to-find Asian condiments. Shoppers can enjoy complimentary fish frying and live crab steaming, in-house butchering, and multilingual staff ready to assist. The store also features a hot deli, Asian bakery, and will soon welcome HK Café, a Hong Kong-style dim sum eatery. Adding to the cultural experience, global lifestyle retailer MINISO has opened its first Portland location inside the market, offering a variety of trendy household items.
The opening event drew a large crowd, including local officials like State Representative Andrea Valderrama, and delighted attendees with giveaways and product samples. The store’s location near the SE Main Street MAX stop and I-205 makes it easily accessible, and free same-day delivery is available within a 20-mile radius. With its diverse offerings and community-focused approach, 99 Ranch Market is poised to become a culinary and cultural hub for Portland’s growing and diverse population.
