Aldi Strengthens Presence in Gulf Coast with New Regional HQ, Distribution Center

German discount grocer Aldi has begun construction on a new location in Rouses Market’s headquarter city of Thibodaux, Louisiana. The new store is part of Aldi’s large Gulf Coast expansion plan. Aldi currently operates 30 stores in the Gulf Coast, 20 of which it opened in the past year. It plans to add another 13 stores in 2023. The Thibodaux location is one of five the company plans to open in Louisiana this year. Aldi further strengthened its presence in the Gulf Coast with a new regional headquarters and 564,000-square-foot distribution center that opened in Loxley, Alabama last month. It is the 26th distribution center in the U.S. and will serve up to 100 Aldi stores across the Southeast. “At a time when inflation is putting pressure on American wallets, we believe our mission to save people money on the food and products they need is more important than ever,” said Heather Moore, Aldi divisional VP for the Loxley region. “We are thrilled to see so much customer love for the 20 stores we’ve opened in the Gulf Coast area in the last year alone.” The Loxley distribution center will support locations across Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle.
