Amazon has big news with the announcement of eight new Amazon Fresh locations spanning the East and West Coasts. This expansion isn’t entirely unexpected, as Amazon had previously signed leases at many of these sites, but it’s now making the openings official. Recent store launches in New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and California bring Amazon Fresh’s total locations to 60. Among these, some are firsts for Amazon Fresh, including new stores in Suffolk County, Long Island, and Twin Peaks Plaza in San Diego.
Amazon Fresh stores vary significantly in size, ranging from smaller neighborhood markets around 31,000 square feet to larger formats reaching 59,000 square feet. Last year, Amazon completed some redesigns at select stores in Chicago and Southern California, which have shown promising results. While Amazon continues to test its stores across various markets, the company hasn’t released specific growth projections or a target number of locations, instead basing future expansions on customer feedback and store performance.
