Amazon Launches New Grocery Delivery Subscription

On August 21st, Amazon unveiled a new subscription service for its members for grocery deliveries from Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, Cardenas Markets, Save Mart, Rite Aid, Pet Food Express, and Mission Wine & Spirits. Amazon’s new grocery delivery subscription for Prime and Prime Access members offers unlimited grocery deliveries on orders over $35. For existing Prime members, the subscription will cost an additional $9.99 per month or $99.99 annually on top of the Prime membership cost. Amazon will offer two months free when customers sign up for the new annual plan.

Additionally, all Prime Access members are eligible for the monthly subscription at $5.99 per month, regardless of their qualifying form of government assistance. (Prime Access is a discounted membership program for government assistance recipients.) The yearly savings amounts to $60 for people on government assistance when compared to the standard yearly Prime member subscription option. “We strive to offer the best grocery shopping experience for all Amazon customers and providing exclusive savings to Prime members — whether you’re browsing the aisles or filling your online cart,” said Tony Hoggett, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Grocery Stores at Amazon.
