Ashland, Oregon is known for many things. The world class Oregon Shakespeare festival, held annually, is not to be missed. You could easily spend an entire day in beautiful Lithia Park and it’s (in)famous fountains. It even has a haunted hotel! (Ashland Springs Hotel – Haunted Houses).
What you may not know is that the Ashland Food Coop is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year! Back in 1971, it all began as a small group of local Ashland families who wanted to start a food buying group. Since then, it has grown to be the first and only Certified Organic Retailer in Southern Oregon and currently boasts more than 10,000 members. A celebration in June of this year included live music, dancing, face-painting, sustainable business vendors, and of course lots of amazing food! Ashland Food Co-op | 50th Anniversary – YouTube
