Brookshire Brothers has joined Retailer Owned Food Distributors & Associates (ROFDA), becoming the organization’s newest member and strengthening its position within one of the nation’s leading collaborative networks serving independent grocery retailers.
ROFDA brings together wholesalers, self-distributing retailers, and independent grocers to improve competitiveness through shared purchasing opportunities, supplier partnerships, executive networking, technology initiatives, and operational best practices. The organization has also expanded its national merchandising capabilities, allowing member wholesalers to coordinate large-scale seasonal promotional events that provide manufacturers with broader access to independent grocery retailers.
Brookshire Brothers President and CEO John Alston said the decision to join was driven by the practical value the organization offers its members.
“We took a thoughtful look at ROFDA and the value it brings to its members, suppliers and the independent retail community,” Alston said. “What stood out to us was the practical nature of the collaboration, the access to executive and functional share groups and the focus on doing together what can make each member more competitive.”
ROFDA leaders believe Brookshire Brothers’ operational expertise and strong community focus will strengthen the organization’s growing network while creating additional opportunities for collaboration across the independent grocery industry.
Rather than simply increasing membership, ROFDA continues to focus on adding retailers and wholesalers that bring meaningful expertise and strengthen the collective value of the organization. Through initiatives that include coordinated merchandising programs, digital marketing efforts, supplier engagement, and shared operational insights, members are able to leverage greater scale while maintaining the local identity that distinguishes independent grocery retailers.
