Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) is continuing to invest in its hometown with the groundbreaking of a new Brookshire’s store in West Tyler, Texas. Company leaders, local officials and community members gathered on July 9 to celebrate the start of construction, with the store expected to open in 2027.
“This groundbreaking represents a significant milestone for BGC – one that I know our founders, W.T. and Louise Brookshire, would be incredibly proud of,” said Jerry LeClair, interim CEO.
“For nearly 100 years, the mission and values they established have guided our company and continue to serve as the foundation for every decision we make. This new store is a continued commitment to the community that has supported us since 1928.”
The new store will offer an expanded shopping experience featuring fresh meat and produce departments, Starbucks Coffee, a full-service pizza program, outdoor patio seating and a full-service bar. One of the store’s most unique features will be Stanley’s Famous Pit Barbecue, a Tyler institution that will prepare and smoke its barbecue on-site. The partnership brings together two well-established East Texas brands to create a destination that combines grocery shopping with a locally recognized dining experience.
“Both BGC and Stanley’s have deep roots in Tyler,” LeClair said. “Together, we’ll create an experience that is uniquely East Texas and uniquely Tyler. We’re proud to partner with a local business that has become a true East Texas institution and give our customers another reason to gather, connect and enjoy a great meal together.”
BGC also emphasized its commitment to supporting the local economy throughout the construction process. More than 90 percent of the subcontractors involved in the project are based in East Texas, underscoring the company’s focus on investing in local businesses as it continues to grow. Today, Brookshire Grocery Co. operates more than 215 stores across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma and employs nearly 17,000 partners.
