Central Market Sets Guinness World Record for 30th Anniversary

Central Market celebrated its 30th anniversary this September in grand fashion, breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest charcuterie board. The impressive 12-by-24-foot board, packed with 1,032 pounds of artisanal meats and cheeses, along with crackers, fruits, nuts, and more, was assembled and enjoyed at the grocer’s North Lamar location in Austin—the very first Central Market store, which opened in 1994.

As a subsidiary of H-E-B, Central Market now operates 10 locations across Texas, known for its extensive produce department, an 80-foot seafood case, hundreds of cheeses, and 2,500 wine labels. The massive charcuterie board was created in honor of its 30th anniversary on Wednesday, September 11th. After it was set up, customers were invited to indulge in the feast while enjoying beverages and live music on the store’s patio.

Guinness World Records representatives confirmed that the board officially set the record for the world’s largest charcuterie board. “We are beyond excited to celebrate Central Market’s 30 years,” said Paul Harty, general manager at the North Lamar location. Along with the record-breaking celebration, Central Market marked the milestone by donating $30,000 to the St. David’s Foundation, which supports expanding access to healthcare in five Central Texas counties through its grantmaking efforts.
