St. Cloud, Minnesota-based grocery Coborn’s, Inc., announced that David Best, a former General Mills veteran will become President and Chief Operating Officer at the end of 2023, following the retirement of current President and CEO Dave Meyer.
Dave Meyer has been with Coborn’s since 1985, starting as an evening shift manager in Mason City, Iowa. He has held a variety of titles such as Store Manager, Deli Buyer, District Manager, VP of Operations, and EVP, before becoming President and COO in January 2021.
David Best has joined Coborn’s as COO and as a member of the Coborn’s Board of Directors. Best joins Coborn’s after previous stints at General Mill and Target. While at General Mills, Best was head of omnichannel for North America and led a transformative effort for their e-commerce business. While at Target, Best spent almost 20 years in merchandising, supply chain, and business development.
For more than 100 years, employee-owned Coborn’s has been serving customers in Minnesota and beyond. Coborn’s currently operates 66 grocery stores across the upper Midwest under a variety of different banners – Coborn’s, Cash Wise Foods, Marketplace Foods, Hornbacher’s, and Tadych’s Marketplace Foods – as well as fuel, liquor, and pharmacy locations. The company has nearly 10,000 employees and operates their own central bakery, dry-cleaning facility, and grocery distribution center.
