Coborn’s New Banner Purchase

Coborn’s has made their first jump into the Illinois market. Coborn’s has entered into an agreement to purchase Sullivan’s Foods. Sullivan’s Foods has 11 grocery stores and a few other retail stores. Sullivan’s currently employs around 800 people, all of whom will be hired by Coborn’s.

Sullivan’s was founded in 1967 by John and June Sullivan. This acquisition will take Coborn’s to a total of 77 locations in six states: Minnesota, Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Illinois. This banner is not the first that Coborn’s has purchased. Other banners falling under the Coborn’s ownership are: Cash Wise, Marketplace Foods, Hornbacher’s, and Tadych’s Marketplace Foods.
