Santa Barbara’s own Tri-County Produce will officially close its doors by the end of April 2025. As the closing date approaches, the store is working to sell off its remaining inventory, offering deep discounts to help move products quickly.
Tri-County Produce has a long and rich history in the Santa Barbara community. Established in 1966 as a wholesale distributor serving the tri-county area, it transitioned into a public farmers’ market in 1976, providing fresh, local produce. In 1985, Jim and John Dixon, a father-and-son duo, purchased the store and expanded its offerings to include gourmet natural foods, beer, wine, and fresh meat and seafood. After Jim’s passing in 2016, John carried on the family legacy, making Tri-County Produce a beloved institution known for its high-quality products and exceptional service.
Recently, John announced his retirement as he approaches his 64th birthday, officially bringing Tri-County Produce’s journey to a close. For decades, the store has been a symbol of community spirit, cherished by locals for its dedication to fresh, high-quality goods and personalized service. While its doors may be closing, Tri-County Produce’s legacy will remain an integral part of Santa Barbara’s history.
