Food Traceability Requirements

The Food Traceability Rule, a key component of the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), requires comprehensive recordkeeping to trace the movement of food products through the supply chain, enhancing the ability to quickly respond to foodborne illness outbreaks.

To ensure KeHE meets the new traceability requirements effectively, they communicated that they would be asking their Supplier Partners to self-declare, at the product level, if what they supply to KeHE is covered under the scope of the FDA’s Food Traceability List (FTL). Beginning Thursday, February 20th, there will be a new section visible in the product onboarding process titled ‘Food Traceability’. The section will be required for any new products created in the KeHE CONNECT Supplier Portal and on any DRAFT items under Supplier Review. This enhancement will allow KeHE to capture specifics on whether the product contains ingredients on the Food Traceability List (FTL) along with necessary Kill-Step documentation (if applicable).
