Foodland Hawaii has decided to close one of its oldest and endearing iconic neighborhood stores. It was announced last week that Foodland Super Markets will close its School Street location. The store was opened in 1948 and employs 48 employees. All employees have been offered job opportunities at other store locations.
When CEO Janai Wall was asked for comment about the decision, she said, “Closing a store we have operated for 74 years is not something we take lightly – especially because of the impact it will have on our loyal customers and employees. We want to thank our customers, many of whom have shopped with us over the years. They have become our family, and we will miss serving them at Foodland School Street. We hope to be able to return to the community sometime in the future.”
