FRESH by Brookshire’s to Open Third Location in Longview

Brookshire Grocery Co. confirmed plans to build a new FRESH by Brookshire store in Longview, Texas. FRESH is the company’s upmarket format featuring natural, organic, specialty, and chef-prepared items with a focus on perimeter departments. The Longview store will be the third FRESH by Brookshire’s location for the company. The first opened in 2011 in Brookshire’s headquarter city of Tyler and has since been remodeled. The company opened a second location in Fate, Texas in 2022. At 66,000 square feet, the new Longview store will be 10,000 square feet larger than the original FRESH in Tyler and will be the company’s most expensive build to date. It will contain the best amenities of the Tyler and Fate locations including a sushi bar, a taqueria, brick oven pizza, chef-prepared food, gelato, and an artisan bakery. The outdoor area will include a patio and grill, plus a stage for live music and a playground.

In recent years, Brookshire’s acquired multiple parcels of land in the northern part of Longview for the project. Longview is roughly 40 miles east of Tyler, and they are often considered part of the same metropolitan and economic region. The upcoming addition is slated to be constructed at the intersection of North Fourth Street and US Highway 259, south of the University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center. The chosen location was a result of a successful collaboration between private and public entities according to Longview City Councilman Wray Wade. Brad Brookshire, company chairman and CEO, told the Longview Economic Development Corp. board that he expects construction to start in the spring and for the store to open in 2025.

In addition to FRESH by Brookshire’s, the company also operates over 200 stores under the Brookshire Grocery, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market and Reasor’s brands across Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
