H-E-B and Central Market Host Feast of Sharing Events

H-E-B’s holiday Feast of Sharing events were held in person again after two years of social distancing. The Feast of Sharing is an annual holiday tradition where H-E-B and Central Market serve more than more than 340,000 Texas-style meals at 34 dinners across Texas and Mexico. Each event was filled with music, activities for the family, plus a variety of free services such as health and wellness screenings and flu vaccinations. Some gatherings included a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. H-E-B distributed roughly 10,000 holiday meals at each event with the help of its mobile kitchens. In addition, H-E-B staff and community volunteers delivered holiday meals to homebound seniors and others who were unable to attend the event. This year, H-E-B launched a drive-thru meal distribution event in Houston where it gave out more than 20,000 meals.

H-E-B started the Feast of Sharing 33 years ago in Laredo and Corpus Christi, Texas, and has since expanded across Texas and Mexico. In the more than three decades H-E-B has held the celebrations, more than 375,000 volunteers have helped serve nearly four million meals. This initiative is an important part of H-E-B’s Hunger Relief Program, which works year-round to prevent hunger. Last year, H-E-B’s Hunger Relief Program donated 34 million pounds of food to families in need. Since 1982, the year the program was founded, H-E-B has donated more than 1 billion pounds of food to 5,500 non-profit organizations in Texas and Mexico.
