H-E-B Announces Plans for Its First Store in Dallas

H-E-B Grocery Co. is making a significant move into Dallas with plans to open its first official store within the city. While H-E-B has established a presence throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, this marks its first location within Dallas city limits.

The company recently finalized the purchase of a nearly 10-acre property at the southeast corner of Hillcrest Road and LBJ Freeway, a prime site inside the Dallas loop. Though details of the purchase remain undisclosed, H-E-B confirmed that this is the initial step in bringing its signature grocery experience to the community.

“While we have a lot of work to do, we look forward to connecting with our neighbors, the city, and community stakeholders to ensure we create a destination that best supports this community,” said Mabrie Jackson, Public Affairs Managing Director for H-E-B and Central Market. “This is the first step in a long process, and we hope to share more details with our neighbors soon.”

The next phases of the project will include working with city officials and local stakeholders to address rezoning and planning requirements for the new site. While H-E-B has yet to reveal specifics about the store format, including potential features like H-E-B Plus, Texas True BBQ, or Flaming Birds, more details are expected in the coming months.

This announcement comes as H-E-B continues its expansion in North Texas. In June 2024, the company opened the first Joe V’s Smart Shop outside of Houston in Dallas’ Wheatland area, with a second location expected to open this spring at 5204 S. Buckner Blvd. A third Joe V’s Smart Shop is also planned for Irving, at State Highway 183 and Story Road.

Texans’ enthusiasm for H-E-B remains strong. The retailer was recently named the top U.S. grocery chain for the third consecutive year in the Dunnhumby Retailer Preference Index (RPI), a testament to its loyal customer base.

As H-E-B takes this exciting step into Dallas, the company’s dedication to community engagement and high-quality service ensures that its first Dallas store will become a cherished addition to the area.
