H-E-B has officially reopened its Hancock Center location in Austin following a multi-year, multi-million-dollar renovation that significantly enhances the store’s size, offerings, and overall customer experience.
The company celebrated the grand re-opening on February 20th, marking the completion of a $17.5 million remodel that began in 2023 and took roughly three years to finish.
The updated store now spans approximately 124,000 square feet—an expansion of about 31,000 square feet—making it one of the most upgraded H-E-B locations in the Austin area.
Customers will find a wide range of new and enhanced features throughout the store, including H-E-B Curbside and Home Delivery, a full-service pharmacy, and an expanded selection across key departments such as produce, bakery, deli, seafood, and general merchandise.
A standout addition is the in-store True Texas BBQ, which offers a full menu of smoked meats and classic sides with indoor seating. The store also features an upgraded Meal Simple department with more chef-prepared, ready-to-cook and grab-and-go options, as well as an enhanced Sushiya area that includes hot Asian grill offerings.
Health and wellness are also a major focus of the remodel. The location now includes a dedicated Healthy Living department and an H-E-B Wellness Primary Care Clinic, expanding access to both nutritious products and convenient healthcare services in one location.
In addition to new amenities, nearly every department in the store has been refreshed or reorganized to improve flow and convenience for shoppers, including expanded beer and wine selections and updated layouts for grocery staples.
As one of the closest stores to the University of Texas campus, the Hancock Center location plays a key role in serving central Austin residents and students. This remodel underscores H-E-B’s continued investment in the region, where it remains one of the fastest-growing markets for the company.
