H-E-B Continues Push into Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
San Antonio, Texas-based H-E-B Grocery Co. is expected to break ground on its first H-E-B store in Tarrant County early next year. The project is planned for a 28-acre lot in the city of Mansfield at the corner of US 287 and Broad Street, about 20 minutes south of downtown Fort Worth. Tarrant County is a well-off, heavily populated area of Texas that includes the cities of Fort Worth and Arlington, as well as incorporated areas of Colleyville, Forest Hill, Grand Prairie, Richland Hills, and Southlake. “For years our residents have asked for an H-E-B, and on behalf of the City Council, we are proud to welcome this economic driver and much desired business to Mansfield,” said Mayor Michael Evans. “With our growing economy and invested community, Mansfield is the perfect home for the first H-E-B location in southeast Tarrant County, and we are excited about the continued economic growth coming to our city and the entire southeast Tarrant County region.”
H-E-B has multiple stores under its Central Market banner in Tarrant County, but Mansfield will be the first H-E-B supermarket format. “The store builds on the company’s longstanding presence in the area and reinforces its commitment to serve more customers in this dynamic and growing part of Texas,” the company said in a release. Customers can expect H-E-B will pull out all the stops for this location, which is zoned at 107,000 square feet with its own restaurant, drive-thru and outdoor patio. “We are excited to officially announce that H-E-B is coming to Mansfield,” said Juan-Carlos Rück, H-E-B EVP. “We look forward to providing this dynamic and growing city with the best H-E-B has to offer.”
H-E-B is making a slow, calculated push into the North Texas region, starting on the outskirts of the DFW metro area, and steadily moving closer to the city centers. H-E-B recently announced stores opening in the surrounding cities of in Frisco, Plano, McKinney, and Allen. The Frisco grand opening is scheduled for September 21st, and the store in Plano will open on October 26th. The store in Allen is set to open in late summer 2023. To support the new North Texas growth, H-E-B is expanding its Temple facility by 325,000-square-feet to include frozen distribution capabilities.
