H-E-B Launches Annual Quest for Texas Best Competition

The 11th annual H-E-B Quest for Texas Best competition is officially underway to find the best Texas-made food, beauty, and household products. Submissions will be accepted from February 21st to April 4th. Participants will vie for a share of the $70,000 total cash prize and the chance to showcase their products on H-E-B store shelves across the state. Over the past decade, the contest has been instrumental in unearthing over 1,000 unique Texas-made items, spanning categories from salsas and pickles to beauty supplies and gardening tools. H-E-B emphasizes its commitment to supporting local suppliers, having reviewed over 6,000 product samples and awarded nearly $2.5 million in prize money to date. Interested suppliers can provide details about their products through an online submission process by April 4th, with H-E-B selecting finalists to present before a panel of judges in Dallas during the summer. The panel of judges will determine the top four winning products and award $25,000 to the grand-prize winner, the title of “Texas Best” and placement on store shelves; $20,000 to the first-place winner; $15,000 to the second-place winner; and $10,000 to the third-place winner. Grand prize winners will also receive marketing, mentoring and supplemental support.

“We look forward to connecting with Texas-based innovators each and every year and providing exciting opportunities through this competition,” said James Harris, senior director of diversity and inclusion and supplier diversity for H-E-B. “I can’t wait to see what products are brought to the table this year. After 11 years of the H-E-B Quest for Texas Best and more than 6,000 entries, the creativity and ingenuity of Texans still inspires me.” So far, 51 previous Quest for Texas Best suppliers have reached sales of over $1 million. H-E-B celebrates those milestones each year by gifting a commemorative H-E-B Million Dollar Club belt buckle to suppliers that pass the million-dollar mark.

To prepare for the Quest, suppliers will have the opportunity to visit with H-E-B sourcing and supplier diversity leaders about product development and best practices for submitting their product during special virtual information sessions scheduled for March 6th, 13th, 21st, and 27th. Registration is required. To reserve a spot, review competition details and learn more about the two-minute video requirement, visit www.H-E-B.com/quest.
