H-E-B Partners With Celebrity Chefs to Promote Seafood Sustainability

H-E-B is highlighting its commitment to responsibly sourced seafood with a series of events featuring celebrity chefs Andrew Zimmern and Barton Seaver. The events promote sustainable seafood practices and coincide with the chefs’ release of The Blue Food Cookbook, which draws on flavors from their travels, restaurant experience, and home kitchens while emphasizing environmentally responsible cooking.

The Texas grocer has also partnered with sustainable seafood consultancy Fishwise to strengthen its seafood standards. H-E-B’s latest policy update focuses on sourcing high-quality, certified seafood from socially and environmentally responsible fisheries and farms. According to the company, the initiative will enhance efforts to source certified wild-caught and farmed seafood, expand traceability systems, protect oceans and waterways, combat human rights abuses, support workers’ rights, and promote environmental and ethical integrity across its canned tuna supply.

Through these partnerships and initiatives, H-E-B aims to make sustainable seafood more accessible while raising awareness of responsible practices in the grocery aisle and at home.
