H-E-B to Open Austin’s First Multi-Level Store in February

A new H-E-B in Austin on Lake Austin Boulevard has set a grand opening date of February 15th. It is the first multi-level store in the city and will feature a two-story porch with a balcony overlooking Lake Austin. Construction began in 2019 and was projected to wrap up much earlier, but after many pandemic-related delays, the project is nearly complete. The design includes vine-covered walls, natural lighting, and pitched roofs with Native Texas plants and limestone rockwork on the exterior. The 97,000-square-foot store takes up the entire city block that was formerly occupied by a small Randalls grocery store and parking lot. In order to maximize floor space, H-E-B built an underground parking garage with three elevators and escalators both regular and for transporting carts. Inside the store are two popular H-E-B restaurants – a True Texas BBQ and SouthFlo Pizza, plus a coffeeshop with breakfast tacos, and fresh sushi hand-made daily from Sushiya sushi bar. The Lake Austin store will also have a drive-thru pharmacy, curbside grocery pickup and home delivery.
