H-E-B Tournament of Champions Raises Record-Breaking $10.8 Million

The annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions golf tournament and fundraiser is one of the largest charitable events in the nation, raising millions of dollars for Texas charities. Organizers cancelled the in-person golf tournament for the past two years due to COVID-19, but participants were back in full-force this year from June 8th to 10th, raising a record-breaking $10.8 million for Texas charities. The H-E-B charitable trust gave an additional $500,000 donation to aid victims, children, and families of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. “We are thrilled to have set a new record, a milestone we could only achieve with the enduring support from so many committed organizations,” said Winell Herron, H-E-B Group Vice President of Public Affairs and Diversity and Environmental Affairs. “Through this giving, we’re able to provide more support to nonprofits across Texas, as well as much needed assistance to the victims, children, and families in Uvalde still reeling from tragic loss.” Over the past 37 years, this event has raised over $145 million dollars benefiting children, families, and educational initiatives throughout the State of Texas.

In addition to the sponsored golf tournaments and dinners, the Tournament of Champions carves out time for charitable projects over the three-day event for renovation efforts, children’s activities, and beautification projects across San Antonio. For the 2022 event, more than 1,500 volunteers donated time to Good Samaritan Community Center, Homes for Our Troops, Boysville, Down Syndrome Association, and the San Antonio Food Bank. Each year the H-E-B Tournament of Champions also partners with Homes for Our Troops to build a mortgage-free, fully furnished, custom home for a wounded military veteran and his family.
