H-E-B’s Joe V’s Smart Shop Opened in Irving Ahead of Thanksgiving

H-E-B expanded its North Texas footprint again last month with the opening of its newest Joe V’s Smart Shop in Irving. The store welcomed customers on Friday, November 21st, at 2407 W. Airport Freeway near Story Road, marking the first Joe V’s location in D-F-W outside the city of Dallas.

The Irving store became the third Joe V’s site in the region, joining two Dallas locations, including one that opened on the city’s east side in March. Joe V’s Smart Shop offers a smaller, value-oriented format designed for price-conscious shoppers.

The debut followed a period of rapid growth for H-E-B across Dallas-Fort Worth as the retailer continues to compete with established players such as Kroger, Walmart, Trader Joe’s and Aldi. Just weeks earlier, H-E-B opened its 10th namesake store in North Texas with a new location in Rockwall.

Joe V’s Smart Shop is H‑E-B’s value-focused grocery format, offering high-quality products at lower prices for budget-conscious shoppers. Launched in 2010 and originally concentrated in the Houston area, the stores carry a curated selection of essentials and a few specialty items. Smaller than a traditional H‑E-B but designed for efficiency, Joe V’s delivers a simpler, lower-cost shopping experience, helping H‑E-B reach new customers and compete with other discount retailers.
