Aaron Wiese is set to take over CEO duties from Randy Edeker in October. Edeker plans to assume a broader role with the grocery chain as he will stay on and serve as Board Chair. Weise has been with Hy-Vee since 1993 working at a store as a student. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and has served the company in various roles including at present, where he serves as Vice-Chairman of Hy-Vee, Inc. The move comes as Hy-Vee expands from a regional grocer to a national one. In December, Hy-Vee expanded into Alabama, Tennessee, Indiana, and Kentucky. The plan calls for an additional 20 stores in those markets. In December, the company opened a new subsidiary, RedBox RX, which will provide telehealth services and prescriptions directly to patients throughout the country. Today, Hy-Vee is the largest employer in the state of Iowa and has more than 93,000 employees across the Midwest.
