Kroger Adding Three New Stores in DFW Metroplex

Kroger plans to further expand its footprint in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex with three new Kroger Marketplace stores slated for development, the grocer announced. The Cincinnati-based retailer will open Marketplace locations in the communities of Fate and McKinney, while the site of a third store has yet to be disclosed. Groundbreaking for all three locations is expected to take place in 2026.

“Kroger is working hard to keep pace with North Texas’ explosive population growth, ensuring communities have access to fresh, affordable groceries and essential items,” said Rudy DiPietro, president of Kroger’s Texas Division. “As new communities continue to emerge, these new stores will deliver what customers expect from Kroger—full shelves, fresh products, and friendly service.”

Kroger most recently opened a Marketplace store in October in Fort Worth’s Bonds Ranch area, located at the northeast corner of Bonds Ranch Road and Highway 287. In addition, three more Marketplace stores are currently under construction and are expected to open in 2026 and early 2027 in Little Elm, Anna, and the Sendera Ranch community of North Fort Worth.

The company currently operates more than 100 stores across North and East Texas and a total of 210 locations statewide. The stores typically range from 99,000 to 130,000 square feet. In 2022, Kroger also opened a fulfillment center in southern Dallas to support the growing demand for grocery delivery.

Kroger’s expansion comes as several retailers increase their presence across the Metroplex. Texas-based H-E-B continues to open new stores in the region, while BJ’s Wholesale Club announced earlier in 2025 that it plans to enter the Dallas–Fort Worth market. New BJ’s locations in North Texas are expected to open in 2026.

“We are eager to continue our expansion by bringing unbeatable value, convenience, and assortment to the Dallas–Fort Worth community,” said Bob Eddy, chairman and CEO of BJ’s Wholesale Club. “Economic expansion and a growing population make Texas a great fit for us.”
