Kroger and Gatik Launch Autonomous Truck Delivery in Texas

Kroger has formed a partnership with autonomous B2B logistics company Gatik to integrate autonomous trucks into its delivery operations in Texas. Under this multi-year commercial collaboration, Kroger will utilize Gatik’s medium-duty autonomous box trucks to transport fresh products from its advanced Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) in Dallas to various retail locations. This initiative comes after a successful pilot earlier in 2023, where Gatik’s autonomous trucks demonstrated safe and consistent operation multiple times a day, seven days a week across Kroger’s Dallas distribution network.

The implementation of Gatik’s autonomous truck service has notably enhanced the speed, responsiveness, and frequency of Kroger’s e-commerce delivery operations. Ben Hamilton, Vice President of Kroger’s logistics and engineering network strategy, affirmed the commitment to creating a seamless shopping experience for customers. He stated, “Our collaboration with Gatik enables us to continue and enhance that experience, whether through home delivery, store pick-up, or in-store shopping.” Kroger currently operates nearly 2,800 stores in 35 states under two dozen banners.
