Kroger Continues North Texas Expansion

Kroger is continuing its aggressive expansion across North Texas with the groundbreaking of a new Marketplace store in Princeton, Texas. The 123,000-square-foot location will be part of the 66-acre Princeton Town Center development at the intersection of Beauchamp Boulevard and U.S. Highway 380. Company leaders and local officials gathered for a ceremonial groundbreaking on July 15th, with the store expected to open in late 2027.

The Princeton project reflects Kroger’s ongoing investment in one of Texas’ fastest-growing regions. It is the third Marketplace store to break ground in North Texas this year, following projects in McKinney and Fate, and becomes the fifth Marketplace location currently under construction in the region. Additional stores are underway in Anna and the Sendera Ranch community in North Fort Worth, while a new Marketplace in Little Elm is scheduled to open July 31st.

Beyond expanding its store count, Kroger continues to invest heavily in its existing Texas operations. The company plans to remodel 27 stores across the state during 2026 while continuing development of several new locations. Last year, Kroger opened a 123,000-square-foot Marketplace store in Fort Worth, representing a $40 million investment and creating approximately 220 jobs. These projects demonstrate the retailer’s long-term commitment to supporting the rapid population growth throughout North Texas while strengthening its presence in one of its fastest-growing markets.
