Market Basket Continues Making its Mark in New Hampshire

Tewksbury, Massachusetts-based supermarket, Market Basket, opened its third and largest Concord, New Hampshire store. The new 81,000-square-foot store is located at 15 Merchants Way will be the anchor tenant at a new shopping plaza – officially named Merchants Way.

Newer Market Basket stores have evolved to be more modern and feature more amenities, like a sit-down cafe with wi-fi and a larger selection of prepared and ready-to-eat food. The opening expands the 105-year-old Demoulas Super Markets footprint, which operates 87 Market Basket stores in four New England states including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Rhode Island. Devoted to tradition, Market Basket, which is known for high-volume stores with low prices and no self-checkout lanes, takes pride in “just people taking care of people.”  In fact, with human interactions at the core of its business, it wasn’t until 2017 that the company went digital.

Founded in 1917 by Athanasios and Efrosine Demoulas who emigrated from Greece to America, it wasn’t until 1975 that the DeMoulas Super Markets 17th location adopted the “Market Basket” name. Today, the grocer continues holding true to its coined phrase “More For Your Dollar,” not only a standard and motto but a tradition that has become part of the culture of Market Basket Super Markets.
