Natural Grocers Grant Subsidizes Women’s Entry Fees for Jesse Blancarte Time Trial in Gardner
“Community” is one of the Five Founding Principles of the Natural Grocers business model, and one they continue to stand by time and time again. They believe supporting local communities will help shape a better world for all, and take their action from inside the grocery out into the cycling world with the Natural Grocers Cycling Team!
As with many sports, there’s a large gap between men and women’s participation in cycling, and the Natural Grocers Cycling Team wanted to help do their part to close that gap. To encourage more local and first time female racers to join the Jesse Blancarte Memorial 10K Time Trial, Natural Grocers’ subsidized the cost of women’s entry fees into the Time Trial. With the grant, women’s entry fees were reduced from $25 to $10 making it easier for riders to sign up.
Natural Grocers’ participation in the event did not end there as the Natural Grocers’ Cycling Team and volunteers could be found at their signature purple tent with fresh fruit provided by the Natural Grocers Overland Park store, plus team sponsor samples to share, and the team’s very popular high-fives!
