Natural Grocers Launches Annual Holiday Food Bank Fundraiser Amid Rising Community Need

Natural Grocers has kicked off its annual in-store Holiday Food Bank Campaign, inviting customers to help support local food banks at a time when many families are facing increased pressure at the grocery checkout. The fundraiser runs November 1st through December 31st across all Natural Grocers stores, with customers able to donate directly at the register or purchase nonperishable items for collection at the front of the store.

The campaign returns as food insecurity continues to rise in many of the 21 states the retailer serves. Natural Grocers’ long-running “Bring Your Own Bag” program also remains active during the fundraiser, donating five cents per shopping trip to local food bank partners when customers use reusable bags.

“Commitment to Community” is one of the company’s Five Founding Principles, a cornerstone of the family-operated retailer’s mission since 1955. Through long-standing relationships with regional food banks and food pantries, Natural Grocers aims to help close gaps in access to nutritious, affordable food — a need that has only intensified in recent years.

“Our food bank partners are doing extraordinary work to help their neighbors during a time of increasing need, and we’re grateful to play a small role in supporting them,” said Raquel Isely, Vice President of Marketing at Natural Grocers. “Through our annual Holiday Food Bank Fundraiser, our Bring Your Own Bag program, and our food rescue efforts, we’re honored to help meet the growing need across the communities we serve. We encourage our customers to look for donation stations in each store or connect with a Crew member at the register to learn more.”

Natural Grocers is offering two simple ways for shoppers to contribute during the holidays:

  • Donate $1, $5, or $10 at checkout. All register donations go to the same organizations supported year-round through the Bring Your Own Bag program.
  • Purchase and donate nonperishables. Items collected at donation stations will be delivered directly to the store’s local food bank or pantry partner.
