Natural Grocers Opens in Brownsville

Natural Grocers is making its debut in the Rio Grande Valley with a new location in Brownsville, Texas. The store, located at 515 Morrison Road, opened its doors to the public on January 22nd, marking the retailer’s 24th location in Texas.

The Brownsville store incorporates sustainable design elements, such as 100% LED lighting and non-toxic building materials. In line with the company’s eco-conscious mission, the location features checkout areas free of single-use bags and offer a wide selection of organic, non-GMO, and natural store-brand products.

Opening day festivities included special deals on various products, complimentary samples, and opportunities to win mystery gift cards and other prizes. The first 500 customers received hand-crafted woven lunchboxes made by Ecuadorian artisans. Additionally, as part of the celebration, Natural Grocers presented a $2,500 donation to a local food bank just before the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We’re excited to bring Natural Grocers to Brownsville,” said Raquel Isely, VP of Natural Grocers. “Texas has been an important part of the Natural Grocers family since 2008, and Brownsville — one of the fastest-growing communities in the Rio Grande Valley — has long been on our list. With its vibrant culture, rich history, and incredible proximity to nature and the Gulf Coast, Brownsville is a perfect match for our commitment to affordable, healthy living.”

Shoppers can take advantage of special discounts running through early February and sign up for Natural Grocers’ free {N}power rewards program. Additionally, the store will offer nutrition education services, including guidance from an onsite nutritional health coach. Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage Inc., a family-operated company based in Lakewood, Colorado, now operates 167 stores across 21 states.
