Eight new co-ops have recently joined the NCG’s network of community owned stores. They include well-established retail locations and some brand-new start-ups. This will add a projected $19M in annual sales and more than 40,000 retail square feet to the NCG family.
The new retail locations include:
Food Shed Co-op – Woodstock, Illinois
Gem City Market – Dayton, Ohio
Harvest Market – Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Lovettsville Co-op Market – Lovettsville, Virginia
New Orleans Food Co-op – New Orleans, Louisiana
Placerville Food Co-op – Placerville, California
Rutland Area Food Co-op – Rutland, Vermont
Wild Onion Market – Chicago, Illinois
Several co-op store fronts are going through major expansions including the Berkshire Food Co-op in Great Barrington, Massachusetts and the Outpost Natural Foods Co-op in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Henderson Community Co-Op in Henderson, North Carolina added the Lakeside Café on the campus of Blue Ridge community College.
All in all, NCG services 158 socially responsible, independently operated, community owned grocery stores with nearly 230 stores in 39 states and nearly $2.5 billion in annual sales. NCG provides the capacity of a chain to strengthen buying power and support healthy operations that deliver value to co-op owners and their customers.
