New CEO Announced for The Fresh Market’s Parent Company Cencosud

Cencosud, the parent company of The Fresh Market, has announced the appointment of Rodrigo Larraín Kaplan as its new CEO, effective March 1st. This decision, disclosed by the company to the Financial Market Commission (CMF), marks the culmination of a three-month recruitment process. Kaplan holds a degree in civil industrial engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and completed his MBA at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in the United States. He furthered his education by participating in the General Manager Program at Harvard University. With over 25 years of professional experience, Kaplan brings extensive expertise to his new role. He has spent more than a decade within the Cencosud group, initially serving as CEO of the Shopping Centers Division for the Region, followed by his tenure as CFO of Cencosud S.A. In 2021, Kaplan rejoined the group as CEO of Cencosud Shopping S.A. During the transition period, Renato Gutiérrez, who has been serving as interim CEO, will continue in this role until Kaplan assumes his position. Subsequently, Gutiérrez will resume his duties as Cencosud’s corporate manager of management control.
