New Leaf Community Market Opens River Street

New Leaf Community Markets has officially opened its much-anticipated new location inside the Gateway Plaza shopping center on River Street in Santa Cruz, marking a major return to the heart of the city. This move comes after the closure of its long-standing Pacific Avenue store less than a year earlier, a closure that sparked disappointment among long-term customers.

The new River Street store is significantly larger than the former downtown location. The design mirrors elements of the company’s recently opened Capitola Store. Wood-surrounded entrance and extends throughout the aisles, with light and bright color schemes providing an energized ambience.

The new location offers an expanded wellness, produce, meat, and seafood departments. The prepared foods section features made-to-order stations, hot and cold bars, a juice and coffee counter, poke and barbecue stations, and seating for about 30 guests.

The new store boasts 29,000 square feet, which is more than double the size of their previous downtown location. These larger footprint locations provide bigger offerings and more savings with less product outages, which helps provide enhanced shopping experiences. A pattern that we will continue to see in future locations to come.
