Publix Super Markets is ramping up its footprint in the state of Virginia, introducing a new store in Carrollton, Virginia at Bartlett Station. Marking the fourth Publix store in the works in Hampton Roads, this latest play is critical to the company’s rapid expansion plans for the region. The other three stores will be in Chesapeake, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. Located at 22449 Spadea Way, the new store will be 48,387 square feet and is expected to open in early 2024.
Expansion in Virginia follows the grocery retailer’s plan to open its first store in Kentucky later this year. To acquaint Kentuckians with Publix, the supermarket chain launched its “Hello, Kentucky” website. The site provides details on the first Kentucky Publix location, heading to the Terra Crossing Shopping Center in Louisville. Publix currently operates 19 stores in Virginia. Employee owned and operated, the Lakeland, Florida based retailer currently operates 1,346 stores in Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.
