For the eighth consecutive year, Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage was named the nation’s “Organic Month Headquarters” and spent the month of September celebrating Organic Month through extended deep discounts and free samples for customers, education, and advocacy opportunities for community members, fundraising for organizations like Beyond Pesticides, and a special three-day sale event.
Beyond Pesticides, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, works to protect the environment and public health by creating a world free of toxic pesticides. NGVC’s partnership helped raise money for the ‘Parks for a Sustainable Future’ program which according to the Beyond Pesticides website, “provides in-depth training to assist community land managers in transitioning two public green spaces to organic landscape management, while aiming to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to eventually transition all public areas in a locality to these safer practices.” Natural Grocers customers raised these donation funds through the purchase of limited-release Organic Month reusable shopping bags and Ladybug Zip Pouches in stores.
VP of Marketing for Natural Grocers, Raquel Isely said, “Organic Month is one of our favorite celebrations of the year. It’s a chance for us to illuminate our commitment to Quality and our Always Affordable Pricing, two of Our Five Founding Principles…As the nation’s Organic Month Headquarters, we delight in educating our customers about organic food and products – what it really means to have this certification. And most of all, we love it when folks learn that buying and eating organic food can be affordable.”
