NGVC Releases Fiscal Year 2025 Sustainability Report: Celebrates 70 years of Industry Leadership

Natural Grocers, the nation’s largest family-operated organic and natural grocery retailer, announced the release of its Fiscal Year 2025 Sustainability Report, marking seven decades of commitment to building a healthier, more sustainable future for its customers, its good4uSM Crew and the communities it serves.

The 2025 report spotlights the company’s differentiated nutrition education program and elevated product standards. It also features vendor profiles and partnerships that demonstrate collaboration and support for ecological sustainability.

“For 70 years, our family has believed that nutrition is the foundation of good health,” said Kemper Isely, Co-president of Natural Grocers. “Our 2025 Sustainability Report reflects our ongoing investment in nutrition education, rigorous product standards and partnerships that strengthen communities and support environmental stewardship.”

The 2025 report reflects the company’s value-driven approach to supporting customers, crew and communities. While it addresses product standards, regenerative agriculture, operational sustainability and community support, this year’s emphasis centers on nutrition education — a founding principle since 1955 and a continued point of distinction in the grocery industry.

  • Nutrition Education: Natural Grocers invested more than $7 million in fiscal year 2025 in its evidence-based nutrition education program. In-store Nutritional Health Coaches provide free one-on-one coaching, classes, recipe demonstrations and personalized shopping support for customers and Crew. The program earned the Sustainability in the Food Industry Award from The Shelby Report.
  • Product Standards: The retailer maintains strict product standards, including longstanding prohibitions on synthetic colors and problematic ingredients.
  • Support for Regenerative Agriculture: The company prioritizes vendors and farming partners committed to soil health, biodiversity and ecological stewardship.
  • Commitment to Sustainability: Store operations, facilities and supply chain decisions remain grounded in sustainable practices.
  • Community and Crew Support: The company continues its commitment to community well-being and Crew development through education, benefits and local engagement.

As Natural Grocers marks more than 70 years of service, the company says its commitment to a healthier, more sustainable future remains strong. Leadership points to continued growth and industry influence as evidence that a sustainable, affordable food system is both achievable and essential.
