Old World Food Market, New Location

Old World Food Market plans to open a second Rockland County, New York location in Orangeburg, expanding beyond its longtime store in Nyack. The new market is taking shape along Route 303, several miles south of the original location. Exterior signage has already been installed at the property, and work inside the building has continued in recent weeks. A formal opening date has not yet been announced.

Old World Food Market opened in Nyack more than a decade ago and has become known locally for its combination of grocery departments, prepared foods, imported products, and café seating. The store includes bakery counters, produce sections, seafood and meat cases, deli service, refrigerated meals, and shelves stocked with international pantry items. Planned departments in the second location include baked goods, organic produce, specialty cheeses, prepared meals, and imported grocery products. Seating for customers purchasing coffee and ready-to-eat food is also expected to be included inside the store. Unlike many traditional supermarkets, the Nyack location places a large amount of floor space on prepared foods and service counters. Hot food stations, bakery displays, and grab and go meals sit alongside standard grocery aisles rather than being separated into smaller sections.

The Orangeburg property places the market closer to southern Rockland neighborhoods while remaining within a short drive of the Nyack store. Nearby businesses along Route 303 include restaurants, retail shops, and service locations, making the area one of the county’s more active commercial sections. Independent grocery operators continue to maintain a presence across Rockland County alongside national supermarket chains. Stores such as Old World Food Market rely on specialty inventory and prepared foods in addition to standard grocery staples.
