Publix Super Markets was recently named the top grocery retailer in the United States, according to multiple industry surveys and ranking reports. In Newsweek’s America’s Best Retailers 2025 list, compiled through a partnership with Statista and based on an independent survey conducted in early 2025, Publix led the supermarket category with the highest overall score. The rankings evaluated factors including product quality, customer service, store atmosphere, ease of access, and layout. Publix ranked above other grocers such as Wegmans, Kroger, Giant Eagle, and Safeway.
Separately, the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), which drew from more than 41,000 customer responses during 2024, revealed that Publix tied with Trader Joe’s for the highest satisfaction ratings in the supermarket category. Both chains achieved a score of 84 out of 100, reflecting strong praise for customer experience and overall satisfaction. Further reinforcing its positive public perception, a Google review–based study by Solitaired analyzed over seven million reviews across 3,000 grocery stores in 100 U.S. cities. That study placed Publix second in average rating (4.5 stars), narrowly trailing Trader Joe’s (4.65 stars), highlighting Publix’s consistent performance in customer reviews. The grocer has previously earned accolades such as Supermarket News’s Retailer of the Year award in 2024 and repeated highest ranking for customer service in Newsweek’s supermarket lists.
Publix, an employee-owned grocer headquartered in Lakeland, Florida, operates more than 1,400 stores across eight Southeastern states. Its business model emphasizes customer experience, private-label offerings, and community-oriented services. These recognitions reflect continued momentum for Publix and demonstrate its strong standing across multiple measures of retail performance.
