Randalls has announced plans to close its store located at 5161 San Felipe Street in Houston as part of an effort to reinvest in higher-performing locations across Albertsons’ Southern Division.
The inventory markdown process is scheduled to begin March 11th, with the final day of sales to the public expected to take place on or before April 18th. The store’s pharmacy will close ahead of the main grocery operation, with prescriptions transferred to nearby Randalls pharmacy locations to minimize service disruptions for customers.
Randalls’ parent company, Albertsons Companies, stated the decision was tied in part to the timing of the store’s lease renewal and the presence of other Albertsons-owned locations in the surrounding area. The closure is intended to support continued investment in existing stores throughout the Houston market.
The company also noted that it is working to reassign affected employees to other nearby locations where possible.
Randalls currently operates 26 stores across Texas, including nine in the Houston area. As the company evaluates its store network, the Uptown location closure reflects a broader effort to focus resources on strengthening store performance and enhancing service capabilities across remaining locations.
Vendors are being asked to coordinate directly with store leadership to arrange deliveries, credits, and merchandising fixture pickup ahead of the store’s final closing date.
Randalls leadership expressed appreciation for the continued partnership of vendors and reaffirmed its commitment to serving customers throughout the Houston market and the broader Southern Division.
