Kroger, Hy-Vee, and Publix are just a few retailers who have shown up in big ways to help the communities affected by the devastating Hurricane Helene. Kroger is supporting these communities with distribution of water and ice. Through end of October all Krogers and Harris Teeter, Atlanta and Nashville, locations are setting up donations at registers throughout all locations. All donations will be matched by Kroger and provided to the Red Cross to continue their efforts in helping those who were impacted. It doesn’t stop there, Hy-Vee has also joined forces with Operation BBQ Relief, delivering meals and supplies throughout the Southeast. Non-Profit organizations are receiving an impressive $1 Million in donations from Publix, which will support United Way, Florida Fund and American Red Cross.
A great statement was provided by Leslie G. Sarasin, The Food Industry Associated President and CEO, “Our industry is competitive by nature, with 1.6% net profit margins on average, but when times get tough — especially in the case of disaster — we deliver food, water, and necessary supplies,” Sarasin said. “We come together regardless of competition to ensure we keep the nation fed, as evidenced by our unflappable work during a global COVID-19 pandemic and the recent devastation by Hurricane Helene.”
