The Jim Pattison Group, a Canadian company, has bought Save Mart Cos., a supermarket chain with nearly 200 stores in California and Nevada. These stores include Save Mart, Lucky, FoodMaxx, and Maxx Value.
Save Mart was founded in 1952 by Nick Tocco and Mike Piccinini and was owned by Kingswood Capital Management since 2022. The Jim Pattison Group, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, runs the Pattison Food Group, one of Canada’s biggest grocery suppliers. This purchase expands their business in the U.S., adding to their earlier purchase of Roth’s Fresh Markets in Oregon in 2021.
