Save Mart Companies Appoints a new Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer

The Save Mart Companies has announced the appointment of Chris Hooks, an industry veteran, to its C-Suite as the new Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer. With extensive executive experience, Hooks brings over 25 years of expertise in grocery retail, consumer packaged goods, private brand, wholesale, and discount food industries.

Chris Hooks’ comprehensive knowledge and background are expected to accelerate Save Mart’s business growth and innovation incentives, enhance customer attraction and retention, and strengthen partnerships with suppliers. Previously serving as EVP and Chief Merchandising Officer at Save A Lot, SVP of Consumable Merchandising at Family Dollar, and holding various executive roles at Topco Associates and H-E-B, Hooks brings a wealth of experience in merchandising, marketing, and store operations to his new role.

Based in Modesto, California, Save Mart operates approximately 200 stores under the Save Mart, Lucky, and FoodMaxx banners in California and western Nevada, solidifying its position as California’s largest regional full-service grocery chain.
