SpartanNash Purchases Shop-N-Save Food Centers

SpartanNash has purchased Shop-N-Save Food Centers, a three store supermarket chain in Michigan. The chain was founded in 1973 by Bill DeVries in Ludington with additional stores in Benzonia and Fremont, Michigan. Shop-N-Save used SpartanNash as their primary distributor for over 25 years and will now covert over to the “Family Fare” banner. Family Fare was launched in 1962 and boasts 86 stores throughout the Midwest. “We are incredibly grateful for the support of our communities these nearly 50 years and we are confident that with SpartanNash, guests of the new Family Fare stores will continue to enjoy the same high level of service, quality and variety that they have been accustomed to at Shop-N-Save,” said Bill DeVries, President of Shop-N-Save Food Centers. SpartanNash operates 148 grocery stores in Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and Wisconsin under the D&W Fresh Market, Dan’s Supermarkets, Family Fare, Family Fresh Market, Forest Hills Foods, Martin’s Super Markets, No Frills Supermarkets, SunMart and Supermercado Nuestra banners.
