Sprouts Farmers Market held a grand opening celebration on November 18th in Dallas, Texas to celebrate its new store at the Hillside Village on Mockingbird Lane. During the first three days of the opening, customers who texted “DALLAS” to 777-688 received 20% off their purchases when they scanned their account barcodes at checkout. Through the Sprouts Farmers Market app, shoppers could save more than $100 with digital coupons. “In Dallas, we are building stronger, healthier and more vibrant neighborhoods,” said Eric Johnson, Dallas mayor. “Grocers such as Sprouts – which provide meal options and access to fresh, healthy food – can play a vital role in these efforts in all our communities. That is why we are thrilled to welcome Sprouts to the Hillside Village Shopping Center to serve our Northeast Dallas residents and families for years to come.” As part of Sprouts’ Food Rescue program, the store will donate groceries to the North Texas Food Bank that are no longer saleable but remain edible.
To commemorate the opening, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation donated $80,000 to Out Teach, a local nonprofit that builds outdoor learning spaces at elementary schools. The donation was used to build a new school garden at Solar Preparatory School for Boys, an elementary school in the Dallas Independent School District. In addition to monetary donations, Sprouts team members donated their time to help build the school garden along with the Young Men’s Service League. There were over 200 volunteers on November 12th constructing the learning garden at Solar Preparatory School for Boys. Since 2015, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation has donated $1 million to Out Teach and has built 15 learning gardens with the nonprofit in Dallas. Another Sprouts Farmers Market is under construction in Far North Dallas, and one in Oak Cliff is currently in development.
