Sprouts Goes All Out for Nevada Store Opening

What would bring hundreds of people out at 7:00 A.M. on a Friday morning in Carson City? The answer: the long-awaited grand opening of Sprouts Farmers Market at 3193 Market Street.

Best known for its emphasis on fresh, healthy food, a wide variety of produce, and natural health products, Sprouts is often compared to a farmers market under one roof. True to its farm-stand heritage, the store offers shoppers an open, market-style grocery experience.

Eager customers lined up as early as 4:00 A.M. to be among the first 200 shoppers to receive reusable bags filled with produce, samples, and more. The first 400 guests were also treated to a long-stem rose courtesy of Falcon Farms Floral. By the time doors opened at 7:00 A.M., a line wrapped around the store.

After a ceremonial ribbon-cutting led by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce, shoppers entered the store to cheers, claps, free bags, and plenty of food samples from the store’s 85 employees. Inside, customers explored the wide aisles, browsed the expansive produce department, and enjoyed the celebratory atmosphere.

As part of the grand opening festivities, shoppers also received 20% off purchases throughout the weekend, along with additional giveaways and specials.

Store Manager Sarah Buddenbrock welcomed the crowd during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We are thrilled to be here! Our purpose is helping people live and eat better. Today is not just about opening doors, it’s about opening possibilities for our community,” said Buddenbrock. “This moment signifies a milestone, not only for Sprouts but also for the vibrant community of Carson City. It is with immense pride that I recognize the collective effort, dedication and hard work that have brought us to this pivotal point. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in this meticulous planning, set up and training that have laid the foundation for our success. Their unwavering commitment exemplifies the spirit of excellence that defines Sprouts. “I am honored to acknowledge the exceptional team behind this achievement, my outstanding ‘Sprouties!’ This accomplishment would not be possible without their passion, teamwork and perseverance.”

Assistant Grocery Manager Adam Whitney rallied employees before the opening with a series of original cheers. “It’s an exciting day for Sprouts in Carson City! We welcome everyone to our store. We’re happy to be here for the people of Carson and happy to have this kind of turnout,” Whitney said.

Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell also expressed her enthusiasm. “It is so exciting for Carson City to have a full-time farmers market that it can call its own,” said Bagwell. “I’m excited for the 85 employees who work in a happy environment, you can see and hear the excitement from employees and all the residents coming in today.”

Bagwell was especially touched by the large overhead sign inside the store reading “Thank you Carson City.”

“I think that is pretty special. It tells me that the store recognizes that it needs the residents of the community for its success and then we as the residents in the city recognize we need good store partners,” she said.

Sprouts management emphasized the company’s commitment to local communities. The Carson City store sources produce from Nevada growers such as Peri & Sons Farm and participates in the Sprouts Food Rescue program, which donates unsold but perfectly edible groceries to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
