Sprouts, Klatch Coffee Partnership Grows in SoCal

Sprouts Farmers Market is expanding its partnership with woman-owned specialty coffee company Klatch Coffee, adding 11 new in-store cafés at select locations across Southern California and San Diego County.

The expansion builds on the success of the companies’ collaboration, which launched in 2024, and will bring Klatch Coffee’s first café locations to San Diego County. Sprouts currently operates 14 in-store Klatch Coffee cafés throughout Southern California.

“At Sprouts, we’re continuously listening to our customers and evolving the in-store experience in ways that feel both meaningful and relevant to the communities we serve,” said Mandy Rassi, Chief Customer Officer at Sprouts. “Expanding our partnership with Klatch Coffee reflects that commitment, further extending two brands grounded in shared values around quality, innovation and better ingredients. We’re intentionally creating a distinctive experience that enhances how our customers shop, connect and discover at Sprouts.”

Founded in 1993, Los Angeles-based Klatch Coffee sources top-tier coffee beans through a direct-trade model, working directly with growers and paying well above Fair Trade minimums. The company roasts its beans in-house and says its sourcing practices support coffee farmers, their communities and more sustainable environmental and social practices.

“We’ve found a partner in Sprouts Farmers Market that is closely aligned with our values – including unique beverages, exceptional quality and sustainable sourcing practices,” said Heather Perry, CEO of Klatch Coffee. “From our relationships with coffee producers around the world, to the roasting process, to menu development, to barista training, we’ve poured our passion for specialty coffee into every step of our work for more than three decades. We can’t wait to share our craft with the communities in South Orange and San Diego counties.”

The first two cafés opened at the Sprouts stores in Carlsbad-Uptown Bressi and Laguna Niguel. Additional cafés will open throughout the summer in Mira Mesa, El Cajon, San Clemente, San Diego-Clairemont Village, San Diego-Genesee Avenue, Rancho Santa Fe, Lake Forest, Escondido and Santee.

Grand-opening celebrations took place in July and included giveaways, raffles for Klatch Coffee and Sprouts Farmers Market gift cards, and Geisha coffee tastings. Each in-store café will serve Klatch Coffee’s lineup of specialty beverages, including the limited-time Naked Verbena, which will be available exclusively during the grand-opening events.

The Naked Verbena — made with fresh lemon verbena leaves, lemon peel, shaken espresso and house-made simple syrup — won the 2023 U.S. Barista Championships. Customers who purchase the beverage during the grand openings will also receive a limited-edition Klatch x Sprouts glass can while supplies last.

The Klatch expansion follows another café initiative announced by Sprouts earlier this summer. The retailer said it will open 10 in-store cafés this summer in partnership with Tampa, Fla.-based Buddy Brew Coffee. The first of those locations opened June 17 at the company’s Tampa-Westchase store, with the remaining cafés planned for the Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida markets.

Phoenix-based Sprouts Farmers Market operates more than 480 stores across 25 states and employs approximately 36,000 associates. The retailer ranked No. 45 on Progressive Grocer’s 2026 PG 100 list of North America’s largest food and consumables retailers and was also recognized among the publication’s 10 Most Sustainable Grocers for 2026.
