Sprouts Names Former Apollo Exec New Board Director

Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. has appointed Andrew Jhawar to its board of directors, adding a longtime consumer and retail investment executive as the company continues its expansion efforts.

“Andy’s unparalleled depth of experience in the consumer and retail industry will be invaluable to the company as we continue to execute on our long-term growth strategy,” said Joseph Fortunato, Chairman of the Board.

Jhawar retired in December 2024 after nearly 25 years as a partner at Apollo Global Management, where he oversaw private-equity investment transactions in the consumer and retail sector. He previously served on the Sprouts board from April 2011 through February 2016, around the time Apollo acquired a majority stake in the grocer. Apollo divested its shares in Sprouts in 2015.

In addition to rejoining Sprouts’ board, Jhawar currently serves on the boards of The Michaels Cos., PetSmart and The Stand. He has also held board positions with several other consumer and retail companies, including Hostess Brands, Heritage Grocers Group, The Fresh Market and Smart & Final.

“I am thrilled to rejoin Sprouts’ board at this time,” Jhawar said. “I look forward to working with the board and executive leadership team in contributing to the next phase of Sprouts’ growth as the company continues to build on its mission to help people live and eat better.”

The appointment comes as longtime board member Doug Rauch retired from the board following the company’s May 20th annual meeting. Rauch, the former president of Trader Joe’s and founder of nonprofit grocery chain The Daily Table, did not stand for re-election.

“On behalf of the entire board of directors, I want to thank Doug for his years of service and many contributions to Sprouts,” Fortunato said.

Phoenix-based Sprouts operates more than 480 stores across 25 states and employs approximately 36,000 associates. The retailer ranked No. 45 on Progressive Grocer’s 2026 PG 100 list of the largest food and consumables retailers in North America and was also named among the publication’s 10 Most Sustainable Grocers for 2026.
