Sprouts Opens First Wyoming Location

Sprouts Farmers Market opened its first-ever store in Wyoming. The new store is located in Cheyenne and is one of many new-store openings the grocers has announced this year.

“Access to fresh, healthy food is a vital component of any community’s quality of life, and I’m happy to welcome Sprouts to Cheyenne,” said Mayor Patrick Collins. “Sprouts adds another grocery option for our residents and will create around 100 jobs, further bolstering our local economy.”

The grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:45 A.M., followed by the store’s opening at 7:00 A.M. From November 22nd to November 24th, various activities celebrated the occasion. A “pop-up party” outside the  allowed guests to sample seasonal produce from the tasting bar and participate in a “guess the weight” contest for an oversized piece of produce. The first 100 shoppers on Friday and Saturday received a free reusable goodie bag filled with special products and samples. Additionally, the first 400 guests on opening day were gifted a long-stem rose courtesy of Falcon Farms Floral, with giveaways and live music enhancing the weekend festivities. In anticipation of the opening, shoppers entered to win a $500 Sprouts gift card by signing up via the store page on Sprouts’ website. Customers who texted “CHEY” to 777-688 were able to receive 20% off their purchase during the grand opening weekend when they scanned their app account barcode at checkout.

Sprouts Farmers Market is committed to supporting local agriculture, partnering with Wyoming farmers such as Gotham Green, Disanti Farms, Hazel Dell Mushrooms, and Fagerberg Family Orchards. Through its Food Rescue program, this store will donate groceries that are no longer fit for sale, but still perfectly edible to Food Bank of the Rockies, which helps provide nutritious food to families and individuals facing hunger. The Cheyenne location will operate daily from 7:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.

The retailer is expanding quickly in 2024. During the company’s second quarter earnings call in July, Sprouts indicated that it had launched five new stores during the second quarter, and the retailer said at the time it expects to have 35 new locations up and running by the end of the year. This new store is part of Sprouts’ broader expansion strategy, which includes additional openings in Palm Springs and Studio City, California, as well as Georgetown, Texas, all set for November. Plans for December include new stores in San Jose and Downey, California. Headquartered in Phoenix, Sprouts employs approximately 31,000 associates and operates over 400 stores across 23 states. The retailer was recently recognized as No. 51 on Progressive Grocer’s PG 100 list of top food and consumables retailers in North America and was named Retailer of the Year during the Grocery Impact event on November 5th.
