One of the largest specialty retailers of fresh, natural, and organic food in the U.S., Sprouts is partnering with Uber Eats to bring online ordering and delivery to their consumers. Starting in Florida, with more than 40 locations, Sprouts hopes to expand nationwide by the end of the year.
Sprouts carries over 15,000 items including organic groceries, local farm-fresh produce, and keto friendly, gluten-free, vegan, and plant-based items. All of which will be available to order through the Uber Eats mobile app or website.
Uber Eats launched in 2014 and as of May 2021 controlled over 25% of the food delivery market in the United States, generating $4.8 billion in revenue in 2020 and $8.3 billion in 2021. “When consumers open the Uber Eats app, we want them to be able to get (almost) anything delivered to their doorsteps – and Sprouts Farmers Market brings an incredible variety of healthy, delicious products from fresh-picked produce to baked goods and more,” said Christian Freese, head of grocery and retail for Uber Eats in the U.S. and Canada.
Starting now through January 31st, customers will receive 50% off their first orders over $50 with code “SPROUTS50”.
“We are excited to expand our reach and respond to customer demand for fast, convenient delivery of our high-quality better-for-you products that you can’t find anywhere else,” Sprouts President and COO Nick Konat said in a statement. “By partnering with Uber, more people will be able to access our uniquely healthy assortment and the season’s freshest, most delicious produce.”
In 2019, online Sprouts e-commerce made only 2% of sales and is now up to 12% of total sales. CEO Jack Sinclair told analysts in October, noting that both Instacart and DoorDash have been “great partners” over the past year.
